Now that my kids are getting older, I find bigger changes, with every school year. I’m going to start with a big plus, both girls , set an alarm, get up and get ready on their own without any help from me. What is even more impressive, and quite nice for me is, they are able to do their thing without asking me for help. It is absolutely amazing how much time that saves me each morning. I am able to get ready at a relaxed pace without rushing around and running out the door. I am hope things stay this way because it ready sets such a nice tone for my day. I find I am more relaxed driving and I get to work in a better mood.
Now for my challenge, since the start of school, and cheerleading practice every day after school, I lose 30 to 45 minutes every evening. Instead of going straight home after work every night, I have to first stop and pick up my older daughter. Not that big a deal, I have about 15 extra minutes in between, which is nice if I need to run an errand, and the school is on my way home, still good. The problem is practice runs late every night. I already have a 15 min gap, plus however may minutes extra they run. This is the time I was using to work out every night, and it makes me feel a bit rushed to get everything done each night. Some nights are not as busy as others do the time crunch doesn’t matter much, but when I have a lot to get done in a small time frame, it makes it harder to workout. I hate to miss my exercise so I make every effort to do it, and since I now seem to have a little extra time in the morning, I have been making an effort to get to work a little early and use the gym there, this way if I don’t get to do my Beach Body, I still did something.
I am very excited about starting P90X3 and so far I am loving the workouts, the first few minutes are always the toughest but after that the time flies by, gotta love that in workout. I am determined to keep up with this and no matter how tough my schedule is, or even if I miss a day or to, I plan on staying with it. I can honestly say I like the way it makes me feel, aside from how I look, I am stronger, I have more endurance, more energy, and I am definitely happier and less stressed. Can’t ask for more than that from a 30 minute workout. So basically I’m hoping to get used to this new schedule, and not let it keep me from doing what I want and need to do each night. Here’s to hoping the habit kicks in quick.

Labor Day September 7, 2015

This is it, its Labor Day, the summer is over, everyone is going back to school and schedules and structure take over again . I am going to miss the beach more than anything else, I think. We got extremely lucky with the weather and had so many wonderful beach days. That being said, as sorry as I am to leave the beach, the weather is still beautiful, and there are so many fall activities to look forward to and enjoy. We have outdoor activities the next couple of weekends, and then there is pumpkin picking and Halloween to keep us busy.
Honestly the most difficult thing for me to get used to again is the extra running around in the evening with after school sports and activities. I love that the kids have things they enjoy doing, but I have a hard time giving up my time in the evening, after working all day. Now of course I will make adjustments to make my evenings work out for me , but it can be a tough , but worth while adjustment. I usually end up deciding to give up some tv time so that I can get what’s important to me done. I would much rather workout, get my errands done and take care of things around the house, so sitting down and relaxing has to happen later most nights. I need my down so I will jut usually dvr my shows and sit down and start them later. This adjustment won’t take long and will quickly become habit again . So tomorrow takes us back to our “regular ” scheduled, I suppose I’m as ready as I can be for the adjustment. Summer is over and its time to head into the last quarter of the year, so here we go, I know it’s going to be busy. Let’s do this!

Last Little Bit of Summer August 31, 2015

day at the beach

Well, this is it, the last day of August. Summer is pretty much over and the kids are heading back to school this week. I have my girls all set and ready to roll, but I’m not sure I’m ready. I like the slower pace in the summer; I actually have less driving around to do. Now it’s back to after school practices every day and weekend games, stopping on my way home from work and waiting for practice to end before going home to make dinner. I’m so glad I have family to help otherwise I would have to be in two places at once, twice a week one need to be picked up at the same time the other needs to be dropped off. But I guess I’m ready, and routine makes it easy to get into and stay in the groove.

Since the warm weather will be getting cooler I had to get to the beach this past weekend. It was such a nice day on Sunday; it was sunny and warm, perfect for a beach day. We got up and on the road early to avoid traffic, plus we went to Sandy Hook, and that fills up quickly so it’s always better to get there early. The water was pretty warm and surprisingly there was no seaweed or jellyfish. It can be tough to swim in August sometimes because of one or both but not this time. We spent hours in the water. The water was calm and you could walk quite fare before it got deep, so we were pretty fare out swimming and jumping waves. Between that and walking around in the sand I got my workout in. I am wiped out as I sit her writing this, and will probably be in bed quite early. I’m glad we were able to get there just in case it’s the last time for this year. It’s always possible that we will head down again for the holiday weekend, and maybe even hit the board walk in the fall of the weather is nice enough. Anyway it was a perfect day and I’m glad we got it in before school starts.

While I hold onto the last little bit of summer, I am also excited about all the fun things the fall has to offer. Life is good when you make the time to do the things you love with the people you love.

Have a wonderful week everyone!!

Slowing Things Down August 25, 2015

let things be

Let me tell you , it took a lot for me to sit myself down to write this. I don’t know exactly why but my focus has not been the best the past few days. Now it could be because this is the last week of August and I am having to make time to go out and shop for all the necessary items for the kids to go, BACK TO SCHOOL!! Maybe it’s because all I want to do is go on another vacation or get to the beach a few more times before the season is over. The other thing it could be is I am always so active and last week was no exception, I of course made time for myself, but I tend to keep so busy that when I actual have a slow weekend without a ton of plans, I don’t know what to do with myself.

I almost have to force myself to relax and enjoy the slower pace. It’s not as if I stayed in bed all day, not at all, I was up first thing in the morning getting things done, but then I had some extra free time that I wasn’t expecting. So it totally through me for a loop. Now one day is fine but this was Saturday and Sunday. I know you must be thinking that I’m totally crazy for having a hard time with a relaxing weekend, well I might be but, I just get myself into such a habit of always doing something,  I get a little lost when the day is not all planned out. I mean Monday through Friday I up out the door off to work , get home, work out, cause I need my me time, make dinner, then the night is almost always driving.

I’m dropping one off and picking the other one up and by the time I get home and sit down,I put on the TV and then fall asleep. My point is I am used to fast pace, so when it slows down to dramatically, I get a bit anxious. I think I managed to handle myself quiet well, and I found some relaxing activities, I sat outside for hours and I even left my phone in the house while I sat in the yard and colored. I have recently pick up some grown up coloring books, with very detailed pictures and intricate patterns. I find that the keep me very focused and help me to relax a quire my mid when I get wound up.

On Saturday I had time to catch a matinee with my husband, workout in the afternoon, and then we went over to the neighbors in the evening for dinner. Sunday we took the kids out for lunch ,then spent the rest of the afternoon in the yard listening to music, i did some coloring and I even folded so laundry on the patio. All and all it was a very nice relaxing weekend. I did something I am usually not able to get around to and I am glad I was able to slow myself down enough to enjoy them. Sometimes you just need to take a step back slow down and enjoy the simple things, ya know

I Needed a Rest Day August 17, 2015

rest time

Hello, I’m a little late posting today ,but I’m posting. I spent the day at home in bed with a stomach ache, aside from not feeling well I really needed a some rest. The past couple of weeks have been so full, I can’t complain because most of it has been fun but, sometimes there needs to be a break between events, with time to breath and take care of daily life and what not.

During the week, I work full time, come home, workout, feed the kids, drive at least one child somewhere, then pick the up, sometimes both, so I leave quite a few chores for the weekend. So when I squeeze in a night out on a Wednesday, and have plans from morning till night all weekend something has to give. The one thing I always make sure I am on top of is the laundry, I can always fit a load in , in-between whatever else I happen to be doing, and lets face it with a teen and preteen daughter in the house the laundry piles up if I’m not on top of it.Then of course there need to be time to food shop and clean, the cleaning is always the first thing to get ditched. Don’t get me wrong the house is not dirty it’s just not neat or organized when time is short.

I always make a point of eating well and getting enough sleep no matter how busy I am. Those are tow things I just can’t skimp on. If I’m not rested and eating right everyone suffers, I am no good to everyone without my sleep, and if I’m not feed well I don’t have any energy.Every once and a while I disregard these things and push myself too far cause I want to do it all. When this happens I pay for it later, Now it’s nothing serious just a day or two of feeling tired and cranky, and making sure I catch up on my sleep, and feed myself some good food.

I guess I over did it between last week and this weekend because today I could not get out of bed,so i took the day to sleep and recharge so that I can be back to my usual self tomorrow.

I did, just for the record have quite a bit of fun so it was all well worth the extra effort

I was just thinking what a nice summer it has been so far, the weather has been really nice over all, except for a few extra hot days, witch of course was when our central air decided to bit it. Other than that though, I think we have had some beautiful days and some very comfortable nights.  So far this year we have been able to spend several family evenings and weekends outdoors, going to the beach, the boardwalk, outdoor concerts, several cookouts, and swimming in pools.  This past weekend was no exception; I spent the whole weekend outside, and really enjoyed it. On Saturday my younger daughter and I spent the day at an outdoor party, and the weather was perfect, all the adults were all able to comfortably sit outside and relax, while the kids all ran around. It was nice to be able to hang outside in August without melting into my chair.  Then on Sunday we spent the day at my parents celebrating my sister’s birthday. We all went swimming for a while, at my parent’s town pool, before heading back to their house. We sat outside, relaxed, through some food on the grill and had a pretty laid back afternoon. I hope these last few weeks of summer are just as nice, we still have some fun things planned, and I’m looking forward to spending more time outside.

I hope you all are having as much fun as I am, getting out, enjoying yourself, and taking advantage of the beautiful days and nights. If You haven’t so far, make it a point to do it now, while there is still some summer left.

Have a wonderful week!

Making Changes, for the Better August 3, 2015

How are you?

It’s Monday again , and I happy I actually got my act together and got my post up on time this week. I made it a priority to get back to regular blogging. Over the past couple of months I had all my energy and attention on my workouts ,and was posting mostly on closed challenge groups on FB. It seems kind of odd that I was taking the time to take care of myself, exercising eating right, and all that and then not taking the time to talk about here. So I’m getting myself back on track and back on a regular schedule. I expect to be talking a lot more about exercise and fitness, and I plan on getting more healthy ,tasty recipes to post regularly. I will also keep up with other types of self care like meditation, relaxation, and and other healthy practices, and of course, as always,Tip of the Day.

I have really been enjoying participating in the Team Beach Body challenge groups , I has given me the flexibility to workout at home at the most convince time for me ,while still keeping me connected to a coach and other challengers to guide me along answer questions and keep me motivated and excited to work out everyday. Just seeing everybody simple post in the morning that the y did their exercise makes me want to do my workout and get my post up even more. So I get the benefits of workout buddies without having to rearrange my schedule to get to a class at a specific time. The experience has been very positive for me and I am looking forward to continuing on, so much so that I decided to become a coach myself. I have a lot of new information to look at so that I can start running my own groups and helping others get themselves started with their own healthy lifestyle. I look forward to being able to run my own groups ,a having all of the resources I need to to help them succeed. I feel like this is a positive step for me and look forward to putting my all into coaching, and to sharing information and experiences here with all of you.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

I am putting up my link for a free Beach Body account below for anyone who is interested.
